Department Of Commerce
Commerce Unit, J.K. College has a long traditional history in the district of Purulia. J.K. College first lights the candle of graduation course in Commerce in 1969-70 and subsequently opens Honours course from the session 1981-82. Since its inception, the department has produced many outstanding meritorious students holding 1st rank in different universities. As a common feature of commerce culture, the students passing out from this department are mostly self-employed; few of them go to others like University teachers, college teachers, school teachers, professional courses etc.. This department occupies a pivotal position in commerce education in the University of Burdwan and currently holds a unique position in the SKB University, Purulia. It has been successfully trying to cater to the needs of the society especially in Purulia where a large section of the society belongs to non-Bengalees. In recent time, there has been a rapid change in the range and magnitude of commerce study in the college.Despite this change, the H.S. or its equivalent examinations passed out are in the habit of throwing out in this college to establishthemselvesat least as an entrepreneur after completion of study. Students intending to pursue degree course (Honours & Program) of the district –inside and outside think this department extremely helpful to them. The teaching staff with honest endeavor have been encouraging the students to meet their varied requirements through constant support and cooperation and thus to guide them in the right direction. The department actually deserves kudos in this respect.

In Swami Vivekananda’s words ‘Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man’ –.....
